01Who we are

Tar River Appliance is a trade name of YOVU LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company providing residential appliance repair in Greenville, North Carolina and the surrounding area.

Contact: (252) 408-2076 · info@tarriverappliance.com

By requesting service, you agree to these Terms.

02What we do

We diagnose and repair household appliances. We do not perform gas piping, HVAC, plumbing, or electrical work beyond the appliance itself and its immediate connections. Work requiring a licensed trade will be referred out.

03Diagnostic fee

A diagnostic fee applies to every visit. The fee covers travel, inspection, testing, and a written finding.

If you approve the repair, the diagnostic fee is included in the repair price and is not charged separately. If you decline the repair, the diagnostic fee is due and you receive a written finding — the fault identified, what the repair involves, and our repair-or-replace recommendation — which is yours to use as you wish.

04Estimates and approval

We provide a flat-price estimate after diagnosis. No repair work begins until you approve that price. Estimates are valid for 14 days; part prices move.

Any price quoted before a visit — by phone, text, or from a photo — is an estimated range, not a quote, and is not binding.

If additional faults are found after disassembly, we will stop, quote them separately, and wait for your approval before continuing.

05What's included in the repair price

06What's not included

07Warranty

We warrant the parts we install for one (1) year, and our workmanship for one hundred twenty (120) days, from the date of the completed repair.

Within 120 days. If a part we installed fails, or the same fault recurs, we return and correct it at no charge at all — no part cost, no labor, no trip charge.

From 120 days to one year. The replacement part is still free. You pay only the labor to fit it, quoted and approved before we start, as with any other repair.

Either way, the diagnostic fee does not apply again — we already know what failed.

The warranty does not cover

The warranty covers the appliance at the address serviced and is not transferable to a new owner or a new location.

To make a claim, contact us at (252) 408-2076 before arranging any other service. Work performed by a third party without notifying us first voids the warranty on that repair.

08Manufacturer warranty

We are an independent service company and are not an authorized servicer for any manufacturer.

If your appliance is still covered by its factory warranty, the manufacturer will normally repair it at no cost to you through their own authorized servicer. That is usually the better deal, and we will tell you so and point you to their service line.

If you choose us anyway, the work is paid at our normal rates, and a repair by an unauthorized servicer may end whatever factory coverage remains. We will ask you to confirm you understand this before we begin.

This is separate from our own warranty in Section 7, which applies to the work we perform.

09Parts

10Return visits

If a part must be ordered, the return visit to install it is included — no additional travel charge within 30 miles of Greenville. Beyond 30 miles, travel is quoted up front and agreed before the first visit, and that quote covers the return trip as well.

11Repair or replace

We will tell you when replacing an appliance is the better value — generally when the repair exceeds roughly half the cost of a comparable new unit, or the appliance is at the end of its service life.

We reserve the right to decline any repair we consider unsafe, uneconomical, or not possible with available parts. In that case only the diagnostic fee is due.

12Scheduling, arrival windows, cancellation

We schedule arrival windows, not exact times. A previous job may run long; if we are going to be late we will contact you before the window closes.

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let us know as early as you can.

13Access and your responsibilities

You agree to:

If the appliance is not accessible on arrival, we will reschedule the visit.

14Photographs and documentation

We photograph the appliance and its surroundings before work begins to document existing condition, and after completion to document the work performed. These photographs form part of the service record and may be provided to you, your landlord, your property manager, or your insurer on request.

15Payment

Payment is due on completion of the work unless otherwise agreed in writing. We accept card, check, and cash. Card payments are processed by a third-party processor; we never see or store your card number.

Approved property-management accounts may be invoiced on payment terms agreed in writing, and may pay by check or ACH. Balances unpaid after 30 days may accrue a late fee of 1.5% per month. Returned or failed payments incur a $35 fee.

16Sales tax

Under North Carolina law, repair, maintenance, and installation services on appliances are subject to sales and use tax on both labor and parts. Tax is calculated at the rate in effect where the service is performed and is shown as a separate line on your invoice. If you hold a valid exemption certificate, provide it before the work.

17Limitation of liability

Read this section carefully.

Our total liability arising out of or relating to any service, whether in contract, tort, or otherwise, is limited to the amount you paid for that service.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including but not limited to:

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under North Carolina law, including liability for gross negligence or willful misconduct.

18Right to refuse service

We may decline or discontinue service where the work is unsafe, where the site is unsafe or unsanitary, where a person on site is abusive or threatening, or where required access is not provided. Where diagnosis has already been performed, the diagnostic fee remains due.

19Use of job photos

We may use anonymized photographs of completed work for marketing. These will not identify you, your address, or any part of your home beyond the appliance and its immediate area. You may opt out at any time by telling us.

20Changes

We may update these Terms. The version in effect on the date of your service is the version that applies to that service.

21Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina. Venue for any dispute is Pitt County, North Carolina.
