Local
Washington's city water is softened at the treatment plant, which is easy on dishwashers, washers and ice makers. Past the city lines a lot of homes are on private wells drawing from the Castle Hayne aquifer — limestone water that runs hard to very hard. Tell me which you're on when you book.
If the Pamlico, a storm or a burst pipe has put water into an appliance, don't switch it on to see if it still works — water in the controls can short them the moment the power comes back. I check it first, and if it isn't worth saving, you get that in writing for the insurance claim.
Across the river in Chocowinity and next door in Washington Park — same terms as Washington: no travel charge, minimum job $299.
Questions
No. Washington is inside my 30-mile area, so there's no travel charge. The minimum job out here is $299, and the $99 diagnostic is folded into the repair if you go ahead.
Yes. Built-in and luxury units take longer to reach and their parts cost more, so the diagnostic is $119 and the repair runs above the usual ranges. You get the exact price before any work starts.
