Worth saying plainly: a built-in or over-the-range microwave is worth repairing, a $90 countertop one usually isn't. If yours is the second kind, I'll tell you on the phone and save you the call-out. $99 to come out and find the fault. Then one flat price for that repair, approved by you before anything gets touched.

What usually goes wrong
Each of these has more than one possible cause — a different part at a different price. Finding out which one is what the $99 diagnostic is for.
This is the high-voltage side of a microwave — not one to open yourself. See the warning below.
Stop using it until it's looked at.
Food heats unevenly and leaves cold spots. Usually a small repair.
It tends to get worse, not better. Send the model number so I can check that parts are still made for it.
Worth fixing — the fan is what keeps smoke and grease off your cabinets.
A microwave capacitor holds a charge that can kill you hours after the unit is unplugged. This is the one appliance in the house I'd tell you not to open, even if you're handy with the rest.
Pricing
One number, everything in it — parts, labor, the trip and the sales tax are inside the price you approve. There is no second invoice for parts. 1 year on parts, 120 days on labor. If I open it up and find a second fault, you get a separate price for that one and you decide — I don’t add it to the bill on my own.

No travel charge either. Minimum job $299.
Farther out I quote the trip up front: travel from $95, $450 minimum on the repair. If it isn't worth it for you, I'll say so.
